I figured it was time to add something to my #news tag.
Life has been pretty interesting for me lately. I made a few connections down at San Diego Comic Con that have lead to some exciting talks. I can’t get into any specific details at this stage, but I have business cards in my wallet and emails in my inbox from names that I’m used to seeing on comic pages. I am ridiculously stoked.
Shortly after I got back from San Diego I was contacted by a local magazine about illustrating the cover for an upcoming issue. That’s what I’m focusing my attention on for the next week or so and I’ll post it up as soon as it’s released.
I just got back from FanExpo in Toronto yesterday - which was my fifth year in a row attending. I didn’t spend as much time at the con as I normally do, but it was nice catching up with friends, and I made a few more unexpected (and ~*~exciting~*~) connections. I also was fortunate enough to attend Chip Zdarsky’s Zdarscon and meet the legend himself. I am now the proud owner of this incredible piece of original artwork:
I also got a chance to chat with my comics hero, Geof Darrow, who recognized me from San Diego. I know I say this all the time, but seriously, Hard Boiled is the comic that made me want to become a comic book artist - and I finally brought my copy with me for him to sign.
In other news, I now own a Cintiq Companion. I finished up some work on an album cover on the plane to Toronto (which I’ll post here soon) and last night I saw and actually communicated with my roommates while working on the couch. I’m excited to be free of the shackles of my basement workstation.
